Geoffrey Castle is not your typical violinist. With his electric six-string violin, he shatters expectations and brings the instrument back to the spotlight with unmatched energy and creativity. At MoonFest 2026, this Seattle-based artist will showcase his unique blend of ancient Celtic melodies and modern styles, promising an unforgettable experience for music lovers.
A Journey from Street Musician to Stage Virtuoso
Geoffrey Castle’s career began on the streets of New York City and Paris, where he captivated passersby with his bold violin performances. His talent soon led him to the Broadway stage, playing in the Tony Award-winning production of M. Butterfly. This early success set the tone for a career defined by breaking boundaries.
Castle’s approach to the violin challenges traditional ideas about what the instrument can do. By adding extra strings and using electric amplification, he expands the violin’s range and sound possibilities. His performances combine technical skill with showmanship, making each concert a dynamic event.
Collaborations with Legendary Musicians
Throughout his career, Geoffrey Castle has shared the stage with some of the most respected names in music. He has performed alongside Blues Traveler, all members of Heart (past and present), Buddy Miles, and Alan White from Yes. These collaborations highlight his versatility and ability to blend with various musical styles. Additionally, Castle has performed with visiting musicians from several countries, including concerts with Lucy Wu, jinghu player and singer from the Beijing Opera, in an "East Meets West: Violin Meets Jinghu" collaboration.
Alan White recently invited Castle to join the All-Star group White Sox, where he adds his violin flair to a lineup featuring Spike Edney from Queen, Jamie Moses from Queen and Bad Company, and other notable musicians. This group showcases Castle’s ability to fit seamlessly into rock and pop settings while maintaining his unique sound.
